I have always been fascinated by natural items like bones, crystals, insects, moss and flowers. Surrounding myself with parts of nature that have passed on reminds me about the value of all life. I chose to use the word "wake" because I feel my work is a way of holding a vigil for the plants and animals that supplied the pieces. The items I create are made with materials that are from small, independent and ethical sources with the goal to conjure love and appreciation for the natural world.

Sourcing
The bones I use are sourced from Canadian suppliers and Indigenous individuals. I also source my entomology specimens from Canadian distributors. The specimens are captive bred, and never taken from wild habitats. The captive breeding of insects contributes to conservation efforts, enhancing the wild populations.
